Breast Augmentation with Lift

A breast augmentation with lift procedure is a combination procedure for a comprehensive transformation of the area.

One of the most popular methods of breast augmentation is through the placement of breast implants. A breast lift, or mastopexy, addresses concerns such as sagging breasts, stretched skin, and downward-pointing nipples. This procedure involves removing excess skin, reshaping the breast tissue, and repositioning the nipple and areola to a more aesthetically pleasing position. By elevating the breasts, a breast lift restores a more youthful contour and improves overall breast symmetry.

Combining breast augmentation with a breast lift not only enhances the size and shape of the breasts but also corrects any drooping or sagging that may have occurred due to pregnancy, weight loss, or the natural aging process. The procedure leaves patients with more self-confidence and improved body image.

Whether you desire a subtle enhancement or a more significant change in size, Dr. Mustafa Ahmed at Las Vegas Body Sculpting can guide you through the process of selecting the appropriate implant type, size, and placement to achieve your desired outcome. As a triple-board certified cosmetic surgeon, your care is in excellent hands. Call our office in Las Vegas at (702) 447-1257 or schedule your consultation online today.

About Breast Implants

Breast augmentation is a highly personal decision for women looking to modify the aesthetics of their breasts. Dr. Ahmed performs all breast augmentations with the placement of breast implants , which are available in saline or silicone forms. Whether you are looking to replace your implants or receive your first pair, you’ll need to make sure that you make the right choice for your body. Here are some of aspects you’ll need to consider:

Silicone Implants

Many patients choose silicone implants for their realism and the natural softness it adds to the breast. Although the first silicone implants were developed in 1961 by Drs. Thomas Cronin and Frank Gerow, today’s silicone implants contain highly cohesive silicone that has contributed to their very low complication and rupture rates. (1)  Today, the most popular choice are “gummy bear” silicone implants, an advanced development that is more resilient against the forces of gravity and stable against soft tissue deformation. (2)

Saline Implants

Saline implants contain a silicone outer shell that is slowly filled with a saltwater solution once they are placed within the chest. This allows the surgeon to accurately determine the correct amount of fullness that is desired by the patient. Saline implants have a self-sealing mechanism to ensure that the solution doesn’t leak. Many women opt for saline implants because they do not pose a danger to the body in case of rupture. The saline can be naturally absorbed by the body. Studies have also shown that between they are less likely to cause capsular contracture, a condition in which too much scar tissue builds up around the implant. (1)

Projection

Implants are made with varying degrees of projection, or outward prominence from the chest. It is one aspect of size to consider when considering how large you’ll want your breasts to be. Women have varying body shapes, so choosing between a low, medium, high, or ultra high projection will look vastly different on different bodies. For example, if you have a broader chest or shoulder, a higher projection may look more natural than if you had a more narrow upper body.

Implant Size

It is important that when examining various implant sizes, you should not think in terms of cup size. Dr. Ahmed measures implants in cubic centimeters (cc) to indicate the total volume of saline and/or silicone. Keep in mind that 150 cc is roughly equivalent to 5 fluid ounces.

  • Small implants are between 150 and 200 cc
  • Medium implants are 300 to 350 cc
  • Large implants are 400 cc or more

Teardrop v.s. Round

For women who want a more natural look, teardrop implants are a suitable option. Women who are looking for a more dramatic result that will accentuate their cleavage will benefit more from round implants.

Smooth v.s. Textured

Smooth implants move more freely within the breast, while textured provides more of a stable placement. Studies seem to show that skin rippling is less common among those with smooth implants, but textured implants tend to have more durability due to their increased ability to adapt to the surrounding tissue.

Prepectoral v.s. Subpectoral Placement

In slimmer women, placing the implants under the pectoralis muscles can provide more natural results. Women with more body fat may do better with an implant placement over this muscle. Research shows that prepectoral placements provide better results if the patient chooses to do a breast lift as well. (3)

Candidates for a Breast Augmentation with Lift

The best candidate for breast augmentation with lift is someone who is in good overall health and has realistic expectations regarding the outcome of the procedure. It is an ideal combination surgery for women who have sagging due to a prior pregnancy or have experienced significant weight loss who wish to increase the size and projection of their breasts.

It is important for candidates to be non-smokers or willing to quit smoking before and after the surgery, as smoking can impair the healing process and increase the risk of complications. Prospective patients should be at least 18 years of age.

Breast Augmentation with Lift Procedure Steps

After Dr. Ahmed administers general anesthesia, he will make a circular incision around the areola or a vertical type incision that travels from the areola to the underside of the breast. He will then reposition breast tissue using one of these incisions so that the final result will look lifted and perky when healed. Then, he will place the implant of your choice into a surgically-made pocket within each breast. Once these incisions are closed with sutures, he will provide a supportive surgical dressing to protect the sensitive tissues. You may be given a surgical drain to reduce swelling, but it will be removed within a few days. Breast augmentation with lift procedures typically take around 2 hours and are considered outpatient procedures. Dr. Ahmed will give you individualized instructions so you can heal well and comfortably.

FAQ

How long do breast implants last?

All breast implants last an average of 10 to 15 years before needing replacement due to cosmetic or medical reasons. The patient may get replacement implants after an explantation, or removal, surgery.

Do breast implants affect your ability to breastfeed?

Breast implants may damage the milk-producing glands within the breast due to the buildup of natural scar tissue that keeps the implant in place.

When will I see the final results of my breast implants?

Immediately after your surgery, you will notice that your breasts look larger. However, it takes about 3 to 6 months for your muscles and other tissues to fully adapt to the implants. By this time, you’ll notice that they will drop to a more natural-looking position.

How much downtime do I need after a breast augmentation?

After about 1 week, you’ll be able to return to work. However, you should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activities for 4 to 6 weeks.

Will a breast augmentation with lift leave scars?

Getting breast implants with a breast lift will likely leave scars. Luckily, these scars fade within 1 year, with proper incision care and careful adherence to your doctor’s aftercare instructions. After consulting your doctor, you may use scar creams, silicone gel, and scar massage to help fade your incision scars. In addition, consuming a diet that is rich in protein will allow your body to heal faster.

Will I lose nipple sensation after a breast augmentation?

It is normal to feel some loss of sensation after a breast augmentation, but full sensation should return within 3 to 6 months.
